Walters Announces Candidacy for Saskatoon-Meewasin Byelection
SASKATOON, SK – In front of St. Anne Elementary School in Saskatoon-Meewasin, Saskatchewan Liberal Leader Jeff Walters announced his candidacy for the upcoming byelection. The location of the launch was of particular importance.
“We are at ground zero of my childhood.” stated Walters. “My old elementary school, where I learned to read and write, my high school, where I found a love of football and mischief, Saskatoon Meewasin truly is a special place for me.”
The soon to be called Saskatoon-Meewasin byelection was a result of former NDP Leader Ryan Meili stepping down as MLA last month. It will showcase just how far the newly invigorated Sask Liberals have come since Walters became party leader back in October of 2021. This past year, he has consistently hammered home the point that the present government under Premier Scott Moe lacks accountability and integrity. For Walters, his own authenticity is very important to him.
“There is a moment in the life of every generation when we come to the realization that if we are to make our mark on history, then we must take that first step forward,” Walters said. “This is our moment. This is our time. Together, Let’s win for Meewasin!”
